OPTOMETRIC VISION THERAPY
Optometric Vision Therapy is the process of supervised activities to treat vision conditions that glasses and contact lenses can not.
Optometric Vision Therapy goes beyond using corrective lenses to improve vision – it will introduce and re-train skills to enhance awareness and comfort in doing everyday tasks. Research shows that over 80% of what we learn comes from the visual system, a considerable impact can be seen if it is not working well.
Our extensive evaluations will determine if Optometric Vision Therapy can improve symptoms after a traumatic brain injury or concussion, if it will help a child’s development and school work, and if it can improve athletic capabilities.
Evaluation and treatment of:
- Eye Teaming
- Eye Tracking
- Focusing
- Wandering or Lazy eye
- Visual Perceptual skills
- Post- trauma Vision Syndrome
- Rehabilitation
- Sports Vision Assessment

It would not be an understatement to say that vision therapy saved my life. I suffered a severe head injury as a child, resulting in eye surgery and subsequent vision-related issues. A concussion suffered in late 2020 seemed to re-injure my brain, and the results were catastrophic.
For the first time since childhood, I suffered with debilitating migraines, vertigo, tinnitus, eye pain, loss of balance, and worst of all, severe sleep deprivation. Months of insomnia, along with severe headaches sometimes lasting weeks, led to anxiety and depression. Extreme light sensitivity, combined with the disorienting effects of blurred images in my periphery, made even driving a challenge. Work in a high-stress environment, with hours of daily screen time, taxed my brain so heavily that I completely withdrew from society, spending my free time seeking out quiet, dark places to just try and survive.
During this time I was given an assortment of medications to counter the nausea and vertigo, to deaden the debilitating headaches, to force my body to sleep, and to help cope with the anxiety I experienced. None proved effective.
After nearly 3 years of suffering, seeing various doctors and neurologists, undergoing tests and scans, and barely surviving, my physiotherapist suggested that I try visual therapy. In desperation, I reached out to Envision Eye Clinic. An initial examination confirmed my fears, that the concussion had severely impaired my vision. Yet Dr’s Banga and Loose offered hope, stating that they believed vision therapy could offer me the healing and respite that I needed.
The first few weeks of therapy were challenging and disheartening, as even the most rudimentary exercises exacerbated my concussion symptoms. But, after a few weeks of practice, I noticed that not only were the exercises not triggering headaches, they were greatly reducing my mental stress. For the first time in years, I could focus on images up close, and them immediately and precisely focus them on objects at distance. With training, I could focus on specific objects and see a single image, rather than the constantly diverging and converging double vision that I’d been experiencing. I learned a degree of focus control that I had not experienced since my accident as a child, and this was a game changer!
Headaches have been reduced from 2-3 week ordeals to the occasional headache that can usually be managed with rest. I have increased mental clarity and stamina, and my balance has been restored. I now sleep well most nights, feel rested, and am again enjoying getting out and enjoying my life.
I am humbled and grateful by the personal care that I experienced with Dr. Loose. He was empathetic, positive, and willing to continually adjust my therapy, exercises, and even schedule to best suit my needs, energy, and rapidly-expanding abilities. I’m 3 1/2 years post-concussion, and although my vision still has potential for improvement, I’m able to again fully engage in the life that I thought I’d lost forever.
With profound gratitude,
Timothy N.

Vision therapy has helped me take back my life again. It was tough work juggling everything, but it was worth it in the end. To be able to read with out headaches, to be able to understand what was going on with my vision.
Dr. Loose was very patient and willing to explain things in a different way, so that I could understand it better. Dr. Loose and staff were very encouraging and understanding when having to rescheduling and
zoom appointments. The envision eye clinic is an amazing place to go to for any of your vision concerns. Thank you again to the Envision Eye Clinic

My child enjoys school and learning but struggled in reading, writing, math, spelling etc. Burning eyes, watering, stinging and a sore head when focusing or out in direct sun were just a few eye challenges.
We were introduced to Envision and started Vision Therapy immediately. My child worked very hard and diligently in office and at home for approx. 1yr. We seen progressive results almost immediately.
We were cautious to not overstrain the eyes by adding additional studies but focused on Vision Therapy homework. Treat the problem not the symptoms. My child completed schoolwork on time but we did not do extra through this time. Through each passing month schoolwork became easier and grades began to improve (this is not a concern, as long as they try their best:) Eyes became less agitated and became easier to focus.
This summer we are now focusing on catching up where needed in studies and eyes can now handle it. This has been an ongoing issue in my child’s life and more awareness needs. I did not know this condition existed, and I’m glad it was caught.
I hope all children can be assessed and treated.
Vision Therapy has made a world of difference in my child’s well being!
Thank-You
– A grateful parent

My husband and I noticed that my son had a bit of a “lazy” eye at around two years of age. At first it was barely imperceptible so we were not too worried and hoped it would resolve by his third birthday. But as the months wore on, it become much more pronounced, particularly in the evenings when Adam was tired. After a year of eye exams, we were eventually referred to Envision Eye Health clinic for an assessment, wherein it was recommended that Adam begin eye therapy.
Six months later Adam has shown improvement in a wide variety of areas. His penmanship is noticeably neater, so much so that his teacher has commented on this as well. Adam’s rhythm, sense of balance and coordination have also improved. He is currently gearing up to test for his yellow belt in Taekwondo.
We are very fortunate to have optometrists who provide eye therapy in Prince George. This is a such a valuable service and I was relieved that I would not have to travel out of town for this type of care. I can’t say that it was easy-there were a lot of eye exercises that had to be completed almost daily, but our optometrist was always very encouraging and great with children. We are very grateful to the good people at Envision for the wonderful medical care my son received.
Best,
Audrey D.
